In La Berra, we had the opportunity to transform an existing blue trail into a red style trail. The end result of the roughly five-week reshaping of several sections: the Allières Trail, 4.8 km long with almost 600 meters of elevation gain. A trail that respects the character of the area. A trail that allows water to drain away. A trail that will last and be incredibly fun for many years to come.
The trail building challenges in La Berra
La Berra's unique features lie in its natural characteristics: steep terrain, waterlogged soils, and some very difficult-to-access sections. These very conditions made the project special for us.

OUR SOLUTIONS FOR TOMORROW'S TRAIL
Well-planned water management
A key focus was on water management. In a region like La Berra, a well-thought-out drainage concept is crucial for the quality and durability of a trail. We know the local terrain very well from projects at the Moléson Bike Park and on the Flow Trail in Schwarzsee, and can therefore utilize our trail crew, their knowledge and experience very efficiently on-site in La Berra.
Revised line design
From blue to red: At the same time, the trail layout was revised on some sections to make it smoother, more varied, and more attractive for the desired red difficulty level. The corridor was utilized, and the maximum potential was extracted from the mountain.
Import of material
To ensure the trail experience remains at its best for generations to come, the trail was constructed using high-quality materials. This approach has already proven successful in Moléson and Schwarzsee, providing the ideal conditions for a permanently stable and low-maintenance trail.
Material transport
We found a special solution for transporting materials in the upper section of the route. Since direct access was not possible there, we opted for the use of a helicopter. This approach proved not only economically viable but also particularly environmentally friendly. It allowed us to avoid building additional access roads and minimize the impact on nature.
A-Team teamwork and experience
The on-site team shines: Colin contributed his extensive expertise as a trail specialist, while Jean-Lou, as foreman, coordinated the work and ensured that all processes ran smoothly. Phil, a young shaper, complemented the team, bringing his feel for modern trail features and playful elements. Fabi is a wonderful engineer who masters water management like no other. His feel for dirt and water flow ensures that the trail functions reliably even under challenging conditions.
Our ALLEGRA conclusion
Projects like this demonstrate the importance of experience, creativity, and a strong team. Thanks to the excellent collaboration of everyone involved, a trail has been created in La Berra that fits perfectly into the existing conditions, utilizing and meeting their needs while offering a varied and engaging riding experience.
