Mountain bike strategy Saint Lary

Like many other mountain destinations, Saint-Lary is currently exploring ways to diversify its offerings and compensate for what is lacking in the winter season with summer activities.

Saint Lary has a success story behind it: a success that is thanks to the vision and determination of one person and the commitment of all those entrepreneurs who saw in this vision the opportunity to make their region flourish.

The area's topography and a climate characterized by abundant snowfall work in its favor. They've understood: a significant part of the region's economy relies on winter tourism.

It's difficult to let go of a vision that has borne fruit and contributed significantly to the region's prosperity. However, it's also true that a key ingredient in this recipe for success is becoming scarce: snow.

The result?

Like many other mountain destinations, Saint-Lary is currently exploring ways to diversify its offerings and compensate for what is lacking in the winter season with summer activities.

The destination is a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts: Early in the morning, you can see cyclists and hikers in their sportswear, smiling as they head out onto the road that leads them to their tour of the day.

Our task was…

…to understand how mountain biking can be integrated into this offering and how to ensure that it contributes to generating the desired visitor flows.

The approach corresponds to the procedure already proven successful at ALLEGRA: Initially, a situation analysis was carried out, potential areas of action were identified, followed by a site visit, and based on all this information, a strategy was developed and an action plan for the medium- to long-term development of mountain biking was proposed.

The goal is for the mountain bike product to develop in a coherent, sustainable and lasting way for the benefit of the region.
