Rehabilitation of mountain bike trails without excavators: efficient and environmentally friendly

The maintenance and upkeep of mountain bike trails plays a central role in the tourist development of outdoor destinations. Solutions that guarantee fun while riding, protect nature and do not disrupt ongoing operations are particularly in demand. A successful example is the recent renovation of the Flow One Trail in Maria Alm - in just 10 days and without the use of excavators. Instead, only hand tools and vibrating plates were used to compact the soil.

Effective protection of nature

The decision not to use excavators to renovate the Flow One Trail was a conscious one. The targeted use of hand tools such as shovels and rakes meant that the impact on nature was kept to a minimum. Heavy equipment such as excavators would have put more strain on the soil and vegetation - by not using these devices we were able to work on the trail gently and carefully. The result: a natural and perfectly shaped trail that not only brings joy to mountain bikers, but also keeps the environment intact.

No disruption to ongoing bike operations

Another major advantage of the renovation without excavators was the minimal disruption to ongoing operations. The Flow One Trail is a central attraction for mountain bikers in Maria Alm, and the work was organized in such a way that access to the trail was not significantly restricted. Thanks to the use of hand tools and vibrating plates, the bikers were able to continue to use the trail while we carried out the renovation precisely and unobtrusively.

Cost efficiency by eliminating heavy equipment

An additional benefit of excavator-free remediation is the lower costs. By eliminating expensive, heavy equipment such as excavators and the associated costs for transport and operation, we were able to make the remediation more economical. This makes this approach not only environmentally friendly but also cost-effective - a crucial factor for destinations that want to use their budgets wisely.

Excellent results in the shortest possible time

Within just 10 days, we managed to get the Flow One Trail back into top shape. The result is a flowing, safe and fun trail that has exceeded the expectations of both our customer and the guests in Maria Alm. This fast and sustainable way of working shows that renovation without the use of heavy equipment can not only be more environmentally friendly, but also economical and efficient.
