Looking back at 2022 – we are building the Aesch Trail Center

Within just a few months, something big is taking shape on a former football field. A vibrant mix of stone and wood features, nine tech and style trails and sections with a total length of over 1.5 km. There's a running bike loop, and a small jump line, Senderman 1.0, was already built in 2022. The trail center is being developed from the outset with biodiversity in mind, to give something back to nature.

You can read details about the project and the story here:

Interim conclusion: The trail center is attracting a lot of people. A really large number. Specifically, this means that since its opening, or rather the start of the measurement period on October 22, 2022, until the end of 2024, 158,724 visitors were recorded. The growth rate during this measurement period is almost 901,300 annually. WOW!

A NEW CHAPTER with even more AIRTIME

Now it's time for even more WOW. Instead of resting on their laurels, Trailnet Northwest Switzerland is already saying: We want to be even better and, above all, higher. While the existing jumpline is already a big draw, it's not enough for the local kids and teens. True to the motto "Feedback leads to progress," they've decided to expand it: Senderman 2.0. We all loved that feeling of being briefly weightless and defying gravity as kids on the swings. So it's all the more exciting that Trailnet approached us about adding even more airtime. Together with Trailnet Northwest Switzerland, we were able to plan and implement three new lines.

Construction was completed in just under three weeks. The jumps are made of prefabricated elements. This significantly reduces maintenance and wear, while ensuring consistent quality over the long term. At the same time, the standardized elements guarantee a measurable, stable transition. Every jump is reproducible and reliable. The angle is optimally calibrated and easy to use.

The Senderman 2.0 was officially opened at the TrailDays on the weekend of May 9th and 10th.

According to the new SwissMobil classification, these jumps have difficulty levels of red (medium), black (difficult), and purple (very difficult). Therefore, we strongly advise that black and purple jumps are for experts only; the jumps should not be underestimated, and this jumpline is primarily intended for advanced cyclists.

Our ALLEGRA conclusion

ALLEGRA gives you wings! We're delighted that feedback is turning into progress at the Aesch Trail Center. It demonstrates once again that projects are never static, but can be expanded or modified by listening to the users. Many thanks to the municipality of Aesch, the Basel-Landschaft Cantonal Sports Office, and Trailnet Northwest Switzerland for the project, their trust, and the years of collaboration, and of course to our trail crew – Senderman 2.0 is clear proof of your passion for trail building.

Moving away from winter dependency and towards year-round tourism: Alpine tourism is facing a fundamental transformation. Climate change and new guest expectations demand a rethink.
