Project description:

SCHOOLHOUSE TOUR

The Zurich Sports Office and the Bicycle Transport Department jointly own three mobile pump track systems. These go on a school tour in the canton of Zurich every year from March to November. One school can enjoy the modular pump track free of charge for three weeks at a time.

This is also the case with Municipality of Bonstetten and in the summer of 2023 we diligently collected laps together and broke records for three weeks:

  • The result: 12 days without using a cell phone | 236,000 calories burned | 4,603 kilometers rolled!
  • A total of 70,821 laps were completed on scooters, bicycles and all kinds of roller sports equipment on a track length of 65 metres. This means that a total of 4,603 kilometres were covered: the distance between Zurich and Cape Verde!
  • The kids and adults spent 295 hours pumping on the mobile waves. 12 days in which not cell phone batteries were used, but rather their muscles, lungs and brains.
  • Wow! 321 burgers and drinks were consumed, that's 236,000 calories, more exercise for all generations!
  • Cannot be measured with numbers: the social interaction! All generations, all skill levels, all roller sports equipment, all user groups come together, show consideration for one another, laugh, learn, help one another, wait, cheer each other on!

In general, the numbers that a modular pump track can deliver are remarkable. More evidence of an invigorating effect in both urban and rural areas than actual measurements:

DID YOU KNOW THAT…

…on a modular pump track on top days over 6,000 (!!!) laps 3:45 p.m. is the peak in terms of visitor numbers, and at the weekend there is an additional swell of rolling users at 11 a.m. In general, the occupancy rate is, contrary to what you might expect, May to September, i.e. in the summer months, not necessarily higher than in the winter months. Peak days have also been measured in March or at the end of October, for example. Sundays are particularly popular, but also the Tuesday is apparently a modular pump track day!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The tool, which is equipped with GPS, is easily installed under one of the modules. No power connection is necessary because the battery lasts for many years. The login has a clear dashboard where you can always carry out online analyses at any time and have individual reports for selected periods available for download. In addition to the analyses, there is also information about the battery charge level, etc. Even those who are not so keen on tables, statistics, graphics and numbers will quickly find it appealing! Because the tool is an absolute miracle weapon for everyone who needs numbers, analyses and, above all, decision-making bases and facts!

  • Basis for decision: for purchase decision
  • As a basis for funding applications before purchasing a modular pump track
  • Frequency measurement: when is the pump track best attended?
  • Set opening hours
  • Which layout is the most popular?
  • Competition: Which part of town, which district, has completed the most laps?
  • How many trade fair/event visitors did we have?

Our team will be happy to send you a professional evaluation of comparable modular pump tracks to make your decision easier.

Mountain bike strategy Saint Lary

Like many other mountain destinations, Saint-Lary is currently exploring ways to diversify its offerings and compensate for what is lacking in the winter season with summer activities.

Potential analysis and concept development Gravel Northwest Iceland

Our mission in northwest Iceland: To analyze whether and in what form there is potential for cycling in this region.

Product development Gravel Ruka-Kuusamo

After developing a gravel network with over 900 kilometers of routes, the next question arose: How do we market this offering? How can we differentiate ourselves from our competitors? And how can we attract potential guests to a region near the Arctic Circle?

Three steps to a successful gravel offering

We support destinations on their journey to a successful gravel offering: from potential analysis to concept development and product development.

Potential analysis Gravel Graubünden Bike

Gravel biking is booming. But why? To find answers, we conducted a comprehensive potential analysis as part of the graubündenBIKE project.

Mountain bike master plan: The answer to the winter question

Can a professional mountain bike business be economically viable enough to represent a genuine alternative to the winter business?

Moving away from winter dependency – towards year-round tourism: Alpine tourism is at a turning point.

Moving away from winter dependency and towards year-round tourism: Alpine tourism is facing a fundamental transformation. Climate change and new guest expectations demand a rethink. Strategies like the "Snow Compass" show concrete ways in which destinations can secure their future. Mountain biking tourism, in particular, is developing into a key growth driver with high added value and great potential for the summer and shoulder seasons.

Do you actually know

...what's really going on on your trails, hiking or cycling paths?

We use state-of-the-art technology to take (hybrid) frequency monitoring in alpine and urban areas to the next level!
