Location Niseko, Japan
Launch Since 2021
Planning and implementation time 2021 – until today

Project description:

On Japan's northern island of Hokkaido, the ski resorts around Niseko are developing into the country's leading mountain bike destinations. In recent years, various trails have been created on the various mountains around Niseko, including the island's first flow trail. The trails are perfectly located and surrounded by sports and service facilities in the immediate vicinity.

When planning trails and hiking paths, it is important to take into account numerous factors such as surface, terrain, soil, social aspects, economic factors, access, etc. Marking the corridor in Niseko was extremely challenging due to the dense bamboo vegetation that was as tall as a man. It was also a challenge to clearly identify the contour lines of the mountain slopes, which is why precise work with the inclinometer was crucial. Allegra designed the master plans in Niseko, created the trail design and carried out the trail construction.

Goal:

The Twin Bike Park is a specially developed project aimed at beginners in mountain biking and to encourage the growing enthusiasm for the sport in Japan. Since mountain biking is still in its infancy in Japan, we have designed trails that are particularly beginner-friendly and make it easier to get started in this exciting sport. On the other hand, we have also planned and built numerous challenging trails to serve the large and experienced MTB community in the Niseko region. The Twin Bike Park thus offers a perfect balance between beginner-friendliness and challenges for advanced riders, making it attractive to both newcomers and experienced riders. Our goal is to further promote the MTB community in Japan and to offer an unforgettable experience to all riders regardless of their experience level.

Location & Size:

The Twin Bike Park is located in a preservation forest right next to the Hirafu ski resort and is easily accessible for both tourists and locals. The park currently includes around 15 kilometers of trails in the picturesque landscape of Twin Peaks. A further 9 kilometers of trails are currently under construction. The proximity to the ski resort offers an ideal combination of winter and summer sports opportunities. The park is easily accessible and therefore an attractive destination for outdoor enthusiasts. With its location and the constantly growing network of trails, the Twin Bike Park is becoming a central meeting point for the MTB community in Japan.
